TrippChain wants to compete with the traditional OTA’s (Online Travel Agencies) like booking, expedia or agoda. These players now hold a monopoly and webpage are therefore able to charge hotels a commission of 20% on average, in some cases even much more! This is translated into higher prices for us travellers. Hotels aren’t even allowed to show a cheaper price anywhere than what is offered on the website of these OTA’s due to the so called rate parity agreement.
TrippChain has found a way to eliminate these middleman and offer hotel prices with 0% commission, thus offering prices which are on average 20% cheaper than booking, expedia or agoda.
Business model
But how can TrippChain be profitable without earning a commission? Obviously they need to earn money to pay for their company expenses, even though they have much less expenses while the whole process is automated thanks to blockchain technology and P2P communication. The way they generate income is through the small anual payments by the owners.
